Once a year the elders, initiated members and their guests gather at the Temple to perform a drumming celebrating the birthday of the Temple and its founder. This event often includes people being presented to start their journey towards initiation, protections being made for attendees, cleansings, drumming, singing and dancing. The festivities do not stop at one day though, they continue the whole weekend. The following day usually includes readings, misas, more cleansings and protections etc. It is truly a celebration and an experience. We usually keep this event closely guarded but still allow outside guests to attend. Announcements are made ahead of time, RSVP forms are filled and guests are granted their temporary permission slip to trespass into the land of the mighty ancients and join us in person. It is often the case that some wish they could attend but due to life, they find themselves unable to. In this case, they cheer us on from a distance and lend their support in whatever way they can.
This year, we have decided to take this lending of support more seriously. Allowing guests to actively be part of the drumming without attending. This is done by allowing guests to make donations sponsoring the drumming itself and on the day of the drumming, mentioning to the spirits that administer the Temple that the people on this list have made their day possible. As you can imagine, the spirits are very grateful people and such a thing would carry great blessings. Now imagine if you really went in and went above and beyond, to the extent that we have to say “but xyz went above and beyond all others”. The blessings would be outrageous. It is in this manner that even without you physically present, your presence can be felt and you too can take home with you a piece of the blessings being shared in our annual drumming and birthday celebration.
If this is something you are considering, do not overthink and talk yourself out of blessings. Time draws near and you can miss the opportunity altogether.
